I don't care for the high gain modded Marshall clones and tones- even those from Marshall itself. We will waste no more words on the sound qualities of this amp - that would be superfluous. It had great tone but I knew if I tweaked the circuit at all (like trying a couple of Clay Finleys simple mods) or blew a tranny the value would drop precipitously. It was built for a different era when PA systems weren't really made for guitars, so guitarists had to lug their own PA systems around in the form of these monster Marshalls and multiple 4x12 cabinets. After buying an Orange Rockerverb i wouldn't look twice at a FriedmanLol. I have owned a few 1959's, and still have a HW one, and they are great at what they do, but it would never be my main gigging amp in todays world.
